Finally a simulation with higher resolution. We extended our framework with OpenVDB, an optimized adaptive grid that scales with the movement of the particles. Moreover we can now import solid collision objects. To visualize the simulation data, it is being exported as point data in Houdinis *.geo file format.
To achieve (Disney-like) high-res results we now have to simulate with much more particles and a finer background grid.
The simulation in our video has about 20 000 particles and an initial grid-size of 60x60x60.

With PhD student D. Körner I integrated the cloud simulation into his C++ simulation framework which integrates a lot of Houdini functionalities. Therefore I set up some Houdini visualization tools to have a comfortable way to check and debug the simulation.
To further improve the realism and controllability of the simulation I am about to implement the functionality to load meteorological atmospheric measurements.

CLOUD SIMULATION:

I implemented the "Stam Fluid" paper in Java for my Bachelor Thesis and extended it with thermodynamic fields and equations to simulate cloud dynamics.
This version is not final yet, there are still some problems to be solved, mainly concerning boundary conditions and runtime optimization.
